Building B906 – Babraham Institute

Another exciting project for CamAlarms to be involved in, working with established partner Hilton Cannon (Electrical) Limited, is at Building B906, Babraham Institute.

CamAlarms, on behalf of Hilton Cannon, will be delivering all systems in relation to the buildings fire and security systems, which include new fire alarm, refuge alarm, assisted WC alarms, intruder alarms, access control and CCTV systems all connected to the site wide security systems network.

The purpose-built facility, consisting of a 40,000 sq ft multi-tenanted office and laboratory building, is a joint venture between BioMed Realty and Babraham Research Campus and will see BioMed’s footprint at the campus expand to more than 130,000 sq ft.

The main contractor for the project is SDC builders and the site is situated to the west of the campus and to the rear of the Glenn Berge and Dorothy Hodgkin Buildings, which SDC previously built in 2019. The new development will provide high-quality, sustainable accommodation split across two floors. The fitted laboratories and office areas will provide space for existing or expanding life sciences companies and flexibility has been designed into the floorplate.

The scheme is due for completion at the end of 2023.
